Special Care Adoption: "Chestnut". Many of you have asked about adopting Chestnut. She is a one year old, gorgeous girl. Young and feisty with a little bit of cattitude. Found in Chestnut Ridge Park by a volunteer, she appears to be a Maine Coon mix and has been with us for about 6 months now. We thought she would be with us for about a day (so beautiful), but we soon saw that she was hurting. This explained the cattitude. We noticed that she was limping and had her seen by Brighton Eggert Animal Clinic. Her first X-ray showed that she has a "luxating patella". They weren't sure how bad it was so they later took a second x-ray at another angle and saw that it wasn't broken or chipped, but that she will always have a bum knee. She will always have arthritis in that knee. So, this is where some "homeopathic, natural care" comes in. We are looking for someone that can give a home to a beautiful young cat, that will need a glucosamine supplement in her food daily or given as a treat. A little extra love and attention for her special need as she grows up. Some gentle knee rubs, some precious lap time, some trust, patience and some brushing of that stunning fur. Simple things. Vet bills should be limited. Her volunteer guardian has covered most of her medical bills and Tabby Town has covered the rest. We will never know what happened to her, how she was hurt?... but we sure know that we love her and that she is loving. She doesn't seem to care about the limp. She prides herself in her courage to survive in that park, relieved that she was found and we are honored to help her find the right home.
