We would like to reintroduce you to Amelia. She had been at Tabby Town since April of 2017 and we have been learning about her personality and needs. She is about 4 years old. She was found as a stray in Rochester and rescued by Verona Street Animal Society. When she first arrived at Tabby Town, she was nervous with the new sights, sounds, and smells. After a few weeks, she became quite comfortable and relaxed. She would walk around the store, meeting people and getting all of the attention. Howe ver, she began to grow tired of the shelter type environment. She does not like other cats, and being around them constantly was putting her on edge. She wanted to explore and run around, so she would get anxious in her condo. Eventually, after a few months with us, she started becoming aggressive when she was not receiving attention from people or became agitated by other cats. Recently, we moved her to a larger room without other cats and constant activity to help her and allow us to learn her behavior better. We believe that Amelia is a high energy cat who needs constant mental and physical stimulation. She loves attention, but when she hasn't had her energy drained she can become frustrated and react negatively. We believe that if she is played with often, she won't have all of that pent up energy. We are asking for a foster or adopter for Amelia. The shelter environment can't give her the physical and mental stimulation she needs, so she gets bored and frustrated, although the volunteers love her. Our behavior and enrichment manager works with her. She has many guests and people that love her. We just need to find the right home for her. Her adopter should be an experienced cat parent and be willing to play with her at least twice a day and have patience. Amelia is a special adoption, if you are interested in this adorable lady, please stop by or call the shelter at (716) 822-4910 and ask to make an appointment with Tabby Town’s amazing behaviorist Sue, who will handling her adoption process.
