Meet Pia! This gorgeous lady is about 11.5 years old. Pia was originally rescued in Rochester by the Verona Street Animal Society in 2017. She had been at Tabby Town for 7 months until she was finally adopted in November of 2017. Unfortunately Pia has now lost her home for the second time and has found herself back with us.

Pia is extremely overweight, during her time in a home, she put on a lot of weight. We were shocked by how much her weight had changed within a year. We were a little disheartened by this because it can be very challenging for cats to lose weight, and it is especially challenging to do so in a shelter environment. She will be on a diet while she is with us, but she really needs a home where her food intake and activity can be closely monitored. Obesity can have monumental effects on a cats health and well-being, and since Pia is a senior cat these problems will only become worse. 

Pia is a super sweet cat. She's very friendly and affectionate. She will approach you for attention and loves every minute of it. She loves petting and relaxing with you. She is an awesome cat that anyone would love. 

Unfortunately, being an older cat in a rescue environment, she can get stressed out pretty easily. She had come down with a few upper respiratory infections in the past that had made it difficult for her to be seen and adopted.

She isn't the biggest fan of other cats, but is fine as long as they give her space. She would do well with another older, independent kitty or no other cats at all. 

Pia loves to relax and lounge, but she also has a bit of a playful side. She especially likes string toys and confetti wands. She will hop around and try to catch all of the strings. Playing with her and getting her active will be an important part of her weight loss journey. She has definitely slowed down with the extra weight, but exercise will help get her back to her playful self!
