Meet Greta! This little cutie is about 3 years old. She was rescued by the Verona Street Animal Society in Rochester in October of 2017 with her 4 month old kitten. She spent some time at the Verona shelter before they felt she would have a better chance at adoption at Tabby Town. She has been a Tabby Town resident since November of 2017. Greta is a quiet girl, she doesn’t care for the hustle and bustle of being out on our adoption floor Greta currently lives in our "Senior Cat" room since it is quieter and the cats are a bit more laid back. The volunteers have spent a long time socializing her and helping build her confidence. While she has made a lot of progress, she is still very timid. Once she feels comfortable and trusts you she is very sweet, and enjoys gentle petting and chin scratches. Greta really likes the people she is familiar with, she is the most loving and outgoing with them. It definitely takes her some time to warm up to new people. We feel it might be best for an adopter to make multiple visits so Greta can become familiar with them as she is cautious around strangers and will likely not make an immediate connection upon first meeting. Greta has a playful side as well. She likes toys and to run around and play. Greta can coexist with other cats. Since she is timid she has a tendency to be picked on by other cats. She would be ok in a home with another cat as long as they are respectful and gave her some space. She has never been around children or a dog but due to her timid personality we think that might be too overwhelming for her. Due to Greta’s timid nature she would do best in a quiet, low stress home with an adopter who has previous cat experience. Greta is spayed, current on vaccinations (Rabies and Distemper) and has tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.
