Meet Mercedes. She is a very quiet, laid back cat who is about 2 years old. She was rescued from underneath a car and brought to safety here at Tabby Town. She has been with us for almost a year. She is not easily noticed because she is so quiet and it’s easy to walk right past her. There are many times that she just stays in her bed and watches everything going on around her. It’s not that she isn’t open to meeting new people, but you have to initiate interaction with her first. She can be a bit reserved. She will let you give her pets but it’s not until she really feels comfortable that her true personality comes out. She will star to purr and then knead her blanket and then after awhile she turns on her side and allows you to pet her belly. She really is a sweet and gentle cat. 

Mercedes is going to need a quiet home with someone who has patience and can work with her to overcome her shyness and reserve, and it is hard to say how long it may take. However, she may just surprise everyone. It’s hard to predict what a quiet cat may do in a home of her own.
