When Natalie came to Tabby Town as a 5 month  old kitten she was terrified of everything. She would spend her days huddled in the back of her condo with her ears back and would give off what she mostly likely thought was a menacing hiss and growl. In reality, we knew she was just nervous and scared and it was her way of trying to protect herself from the unknown.

She wasn’t making any progress so it was decided she should go into foster care for some socialization. We will let her foster mom tell you a little bit about her.

When Natalie first came home with me she would cower, hiss and run into a cubby of a cat tree. Each time I would go into her room it was like starting all over again. This went on for about a week until Natalie decided I wasn’t a threat to her. I would sit on the floor and eventually she decided that I wasn’t so bad. She would come over and sit next to me and let me pet her and even allowed me to occasionally rub her belly.

Natalie has had the run of the house for awhile and she is now ready to find her forever home. After spending this past month with her I can tell you what she is looking for.

She needs a calm home where she can spend sometime in her own room getting used to you and the noises in the home. This room then becomes her safe place that will let her venture out and explore when she is ready and then be able to go back in until she no longer needs a safe place. She doesn’t like sudden movements, they make her nervous. Sit on the floor or couch, and she will come over for pets. She is very playful, loves toys and does get along with the laid back, not in your face cats in my home. She will even play a good game of chase with them. She doesn’t like to be picked up, but will come and seek out attention, especially when I’m on the couch. She has quite the loud purr!
I think eventually she may even be a lap cat. She is a very sweet kitten and deserves a great forever home.

If you think Natalie would be a good fit for your home and would like to meet her, please let us know and her foster mom will bring her in.  Just keep in mind that her true personality won’t come out until she is in a home and feels comfortable.
